You most often don’t need a car due to commuter trains are already supposed as eco-friendly by its nature. Now, the train system in the Bay Area of San Francisco is moving things one step forward. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has announced a new policy and it will move step by step to entirely renewable energy. Now, it starts off moderately by decreasing emissions of CO2 through 2024, but their plans might be more combative. More than half of its energy will be generated from renewable sources with 90 % of its energy from low or Zero carbon sources by the year 2025. Its entire energy generation will have to be Zero carbon by the year 2035, but the entire dependence on renewable sources will be available by the year 2045.

It shouldn’t be considered an overnight revolution and BART also pointed out that it would basically outperform plans of California for the standard of 50% renewable energy by the year 2030. Any kind of similar improvements would bring a tangible impact on the State. It is important that BART is using more power compared to the entire Alameda city and it is estimated at more than 400 thousand MW/ hour per year. Point to be noted that BART is expecting to run both trains and its entire infrastructure on Green energy sources. The Caltrain Service area has already created its own advantage of using renewable energy, but they are still using diesel trains compared to the entirely electric vehicles of BART.
