These sheriffs were participated from counties in the United States famous for massive crime ratio. So, this was the reason for inviting those sheriffs in the White House. In this discussion, Trump said that current murder rate in our country is the highest since last 47 years. Donald Trump made a similar statement during his presidential campaign in 2016. He delivered his words on 26th October 2016 to a crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina and said “the problem is not the presence of police, but the absence of police is the major problem. We need a group of excellent people in keeping you safe”.

More recent available data of FBI has indicated that estimated 15,696 murders reported in the year 2015 in the United States. This ratio indicates 4.9 murders per 100,000 people and it has been considered the highest murder rate in 6 years. The ratio was recorded at 4.4 to 4.8 murders per 100,000 people in each year since 2009 to 2015. This ratio was less than half to the historical high ratio recorded at 10.2 in the year 1980. The statistics of FBI have indicated that the murder rate of 2015 was among the lowest murder rate in the last 47 years.
