A man from Oklahoma is now head of the space program NASA. On Monday, the former U.S representative Jim Bridenstine was declared as the new administrator of NASA. He was approved last week by the U.S Senate on a party-line 50-49 vote. Bridenstine had represented first congressional district from Oklahoma since 2012 and now selected by the U.S President Trump to lead the U.S space agency. The U.S Vice President, Mike Pence was administering the office at NASA headquarters in Washington D.C prior to join the U.S Congress. Bridenstine has served in the Navy and directed the Tulsa Air & Space Museum and Planetarium. The nomination of Rep. Jim Bridenstine was confirmed in the U.S Senate session on Thursday. The confirmation from Tulsa legislator finished the longest span of time because NASA was being operated without a permanent leader.

Point to be noted that Bridenstine was first nominated in the month of September and again selected by the U.S President Donald Trump in the month of January. The confirmation vote took at least one hour during U.S Senate session on Thursday. It was due to Republican senators waited on Arizona legislator Jeff Flake to vote. There were some concerns against his nomination, such as the ideas on climate change and previous sectarian behavior of Bridenstine. In spite of the opposition, the supporters of Bridenstine have specified James Webb’s leadership in the role. He was the 2nd administrator of NASA during the presidency of John F. Kennedy. The acting administrator of NASA, Robert Lightfoot said in a press statement that the selection of Bridenstine will provide a great momentum in making next giants leaps.
