Romney endorsed by U.S President Trump for the U.S. Senate

On Monday night, the U.S President Donald Trump showed his full support for Mitt Romney. He is nominated for the next U.S Senator from Utah. Trump wrote in his Twitter account that Romney will be a worthy successor to retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah Rep.). This encouragement is significant due to Trump had previously endorsed Hatch to seek another term. Romney had been among the most vocal Republican critics of presidential aspirations of Trump. Mitt Romney said that he is running for the U.S Senate from the State of Utah. On Monday, Trump wrote on Twitter that he will make a great U.S Senator and a worthy successor to @OrrinHatch. He also said that he has the full support of Trump and encouragement.

Romney wrote on Twitter just shortly after the tweet of Trump: “Thank you, Mr. President, for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah”. Romney announced on Friday that his long-expected Senate bid in his adopted state of Utah with a low-key rollout intended to duck roiling Republican divisions and avoid signaling that he will play the role of foil to Trump. Romney said in a written statement that “Utah’s economic and political success and it is a model for our nation. I am ready to fight for this great state and advocate for solutions that improve the lives of Utah”. 70-years old Romney touted his leadership of the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
