Stem Cells of Baby can Repair Damaged Organ of Mother

A virally circulated science meme has indicated that a pregnant mother’s fetus has the ability to send its own stem cells to its mother in order to repair damaged organs. These kinds of memes often run the spectrum from “Nodding Acquaintance with Truth” to “Has Never Met Truth and Never Will”, so this specific one is correct. But, the wording used in this meme was showing technical problems due to two reasons. The first reason is that text of meme mentioned Baby as general and it is incorrect due to it points a birth, and second reason indicated that its wording pointed out a conscious decision on the part of the fetus in forwarding its tissues heroically. It is important that the science behind this claim is originally perfectly solid.

Stem Cells of Baby can Repair Damaged Organ of Mother

The mechanism of transferring and incorporating with fetal stem cells into mother’s organs is considered as “Fetomaternal Microchimerism”. The Journal of Cancer Research & Clinical Oncology paper described the original phenomenon in the year 2016. Basically, the stem cells are considered Blank Slates having capability to convert into a number of different tissues and perform a major role in the development of a fetus. The major concept of “Fetomaternal Chimerism” is referred to those cells to be transported out of the fetal system and turn into fully incorporated into the system of mother, in spite of the clearly different genetics cells. A study in 1996 proceeded by the National Academy of Sciences and it indicated that genetically different cells from fetus persevered in the body of mother after birth for more than 27 years.
