Trump administration officials have said that 9 million new tests will be available later this month. So, the White House will devote $11 billion to reinforce coronavirus testing across the United States. One senior administration official also alleged some governors and said the White House has held their hands-on testing. The official contended Donald Trump that America has been leading the world in Covid testing. The public health officials, physicians, and Democratic legislators are continuously calling the administration’s testing effort slow and inadequate. The president was slated to announce the $11 billion in testing support to states during a 4 pm press conference in the White House Rose Garden.

The US Congress allocated the release funds in one of the major coronavirus relief packages that Trump signed into law. There have been 8.9 million tests conducted so far in the United States. The official informed reporters that the country would likely pass the 10 million tests performed mark by the end of this week. Point to be noted that there were 1.9 million tests conducted last week. But public health experts like a group at Harvard University have said the country needs to be testing around 900,000 people per day. The senior official said repeatedly said that states are responsible for getting their residents tested.

A senior official said, “We have now given the tools to the states to complete their testing goals. We’ll work with them”. The official said, “It is not a miracle that states are meeting their individual testing objectives many are not; others are coming just shy of doing so because we’ve held their hand and we’ve explained to them how to do it. And now they’re taking credit”. The 9 million extra tests are expected during the current month and named “point of care tests.” He added that the White House asked states to submit testing plans as soon as possible. It is noteworthy that those tests should include contact tracing proposals designed to help to track where someone contracted the virus and to whom they might have spread it.
