On 6th December 2016, the Polish Supreme Court has made a decision that the film director Roman Polanski will not be abandoned in the United States arrested for raping a teen 13 years old girl. The Justice Minister of the country, Zbigniew Ziobro had submitted an appeal questioned the court to upturn a ruling by a lower court on 30th October 2015 regarding “The Rules of a Fair Trial”. The Justice Minister submitted an appeal regarding a decision made by a District Court Judge, Dariusz Mazur. He called it “Incomprehensible”, at a discussion in radio interview in the month of May 2016. He indicated the status of Polanski as a renowned film director determined his behavior by the court.

He said “if he was just an ordinary person, doctor, teacher, labor then I will confirm that he would have been thrown out from any country to the United States a couple of years ago”. Point to be noted that Polanski has a dual citizenship in France and Poland, but he had left the United States in the year 1978. It was the year when he implored guilty due to unlawful sex with a young teen victim. She was later mentioned as Samantha Gailey (Geimer). The United States had submitted a request regarding his handing over to the U.S in the month of January 2015. Mazur also said in his decision that this kind of act has been considered violation for both his right and the rights of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Judge of Supreme Court, Michal Laskowski indicated in his decision that ruling of Mazur should not be considered as “Flagrant Violation of the Law”.
