US President Donald Trump has backed a group of anti-lockdown protesters in Long Island, New York. The group was filmed harassing and insulting a journalist who had turned up to cover their protest. President Trump re-tweeted a video posted by a journalist Kevin Vesey talking about alarming levels of anger from the people he spoke to but promising to cover their story fairly. Trump also added the comment and said, “People can’t get enough of this. Great people”! Vesey is a journalist and working for Long Island broadcaster News12LI. He said in another tweet, “I’ll probably never forget what happened today. I was insulted. I was berated. I was practically chased by people who refused to wear masks in the middle of a pandemic”.
Vesey posted video clips showing a crowd of people. Most of them weren’t wearing masks or following the advice of social distancing. The crowd shouted at the reporter that he is Fake News and an Enemy of the People. Point to be noted that both phrases were used by President Trump to degrade the media. A group of people said that Fake News is not essential! It is noteworthy that at least 30 million American citizens have filed for unemployment since the beginning of widespread coronavirus hit the United States. President said on Twitter, “We’ve done a GREAT job on Covid response, making all Governors look good, some fantastic and that’s OK, but the Lamestream Media doesn’t want to go with that narrative, and the Do Nothing Dems talking point is to say only bad about “Trump”. I made everybody look good, but me!”

Some of the protesters in the video were indicating that they are no longer receiving paychecks and mounting pressure to open up businesses again. Trump has regularly admired demonstrators, most recently the armed protestors who have held rallies against stay-at-home measures at state capitols like Lansing, Michigan. Some interrupted the work of state lawmakers and prompted at least one representative to come to work wearing a bulletproof vest. However, most of Trump’s Saturday morning tweets were designed at his political enemies. He also said the coronavirus pandemic has infected at least 1.4 million Americans and killed more than 88,000.
