At Least 70 dead in a Plane Crash Including Brazilian Team Members

On 29th November 2016, an unfortunate incident happened when a plane crashed outside Medellín, Colombia in which at least 70 people have been died. Most of them were members of (Chapecoense) the Brazilian soccer team traveling for a match. The Civil Aviation authority of Columbia said in a press statement that the crashed aircraft was travelling from Bolivia, but the plane was crashed near the town of La Unión on a mountain. The authorities indicated that nine crew members and 72 passengers were onboard, and only six persons survived in this massive plane crash. The officials also declared the names of survivors of Chapecoense players including Alan Luciano Ruschel, Jackson Ragnar Follmann and Helio Hermito Zampier. Two crew members Erwin Tumiri and Ximena Suárez, and one journalist Rafael Valmorbida have been hospitalized.

The authorities also indicated that two black boxes of the plane have been recovered from the incident place. The soccer team Chapecoense was scheduled to play on 30th November for Atlético Nacional of Colombia in Medellín. The team players were travelling to play the first leg of the finals of the (South American Cup) Copa Sudamericana. The South American Football Confederation was authorized to conduct this event. They have now announced that supposed event has been postponed until further announcement from the Confederation. The head of the Confederation Alejandro Domínguez said that it was a massive crash and called “A heartbreaking day for football”. The President of Brazil Michel Temer also announced a three-day mourning period in the country.
