Wyoming corner has announced that strangulation was the major cause of Gabby Petito’s death. The recent details came as authorities continue to search for her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, who was traveling with her before she died. The Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue said the manner of death is still considered a homicide, backing initial autopsy results that were released last month. He didn’t comment on who may be responsible for her death. Blue said he couldn’t comment on how his team determined she died by strangulation. Point to be noted that the 22-years old Gabby Petito was reported missing and found on 19th September after she and Laundrie embarked on a cross-country road trip earlier this summer. Laundrie returned to Florida on 1st September without Petito, 10 days before her mother reported her missing.

Police discovered Petito’s body on 19th September in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. Blue said he believes Petito’s body was outside for 3 to 4 weeks before it was found. A court in Wyoming issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie in late September. He was allegedly engaged in the unauthorized use of a debit card to make unauthorized withdrawals of more than $1,000 between 30th August and 1st September. However, investigators are still searching for Laundrie and have zeroed in on Florida’s dense, swampy 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve. Attorney Steven Bertolino represents the Laundrie family. He called Petito’s death a “tragedy”, but Brian isn’t currently facing any charges regarding Petito’s death. On Tuesday, Bertolino said, “While Brian Laundrie is currently charged with the unauthorized use of a debit card belonging to Gabby”.

He added, “Brian is only considered a person of interest in relation to Gabby Petito’s demise. At this time, Brian is still missing and when he is located, we will address the pending fraud charge against him”. Petito’s family hasn’t yet made any comment on the recent announcement. Petito’s death has engaged the nation during the last couple of weeks. Blue was asked how he handled the pressure of performing an autopsy in such a high-profile case. Blue replied and said he was disappointed that the media circus surrounding Petito’s death wasn’t applied to other missing victims. Bertolino said, “There are a lot of both men and women who have lost their lives who aren’t covered with this kind of media attention”.
