A number of Facebook users shared similar links in the first week of April 2016 and claimed that “an abortionist strangled a baby during a failed abortion”. This shocking statement attracted most of the social media users to share it without checking authenticity of this news and most of them believed that this story was related to a current incident. Most of the shared stories used the link from the article of a website “LifeSiteNews”. This article was published three years ago and now its link had been circulated at the start of April 2016. Most of the shared versions used the same photograph and it was dated to 2014.

It is important that the shared image was not related to abortion, but this photograph was showing a healthy baby Karson Hanson. The article in which this photograph was originally posted didn’t mention any kind of incident regarding this claim, but the news was published on 2^nd March 1977 about an incident brackish abortion and result a live birth. The mentioning detail of the article posted on 2^nd March 1977 was much similar to the detail provided in the articles shared in the first week of April 2016. Point to be noted that several local newspapers covered two trials regarding the failed abortion and a website “Chicago Tribune” also mentioned the trial case on 6^th April 1979. So, it is true that failed abortion incident happened but it was false that this incident recently occurred in 2016.
