8-Year-Old on Trial for Exuberance

A website Connecticut Post published news in an article on 13th October 2015 with a title that ‘8 year old Boy on Trial for Cheerfulness’ and this news spread by various news outlets across the United States. The article indicated that a 54 year old woman Jennifer Connell from Manhattan claimed her 12 year nephew Sean Tarala for breaking her wrist during a cheerful hug on 18 March 2011 in a birthday party. Connell added that the boy got a bike on his birthday and riding his red bicycle joyfully around the home and street, but when he saw me, he threw away his bicycle and shouted ‘Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen and jumped over me. I tried to catch him but he was 50 pound boy, he was shouting ‘Auntie Jen I love you’.

Jennifer Connell filed her claim in March 2013, and on first hearing the boy appeared with his father Michael Trala and his mother Lisa Tarala. His mother died in 2014. A number of news sources published this news but all those news were picked from 13 October 2015 post of Connecticut Post. It has not been confirmed that a child of 12 year age can be sued but this incident happened when he was at the age of 8 years. It was noticed that a minor charge will be for this kind of injuries. The Connecticut Post said that Jennifer sued for 127,000 U.S dollars in damages.
