US President Donald Trump has announced guidelines he needs governors to use to create their own plans to reopen their states. He said some like Montana and Wyoming could start the process as soon as Friday when the coronavirus outburst ends. President said the country could open one careful step at a time. He claimed the peak in cases is behind us, hailing his own quick action during Democrats’ claims of a slow and ineffective COVID-19 response. He said, “Our experts now agree we can begin the next front in our war. Americans need to be open. A national shutdown is not a sustainable long-term solution. It’s going to be up to the governors”.

Moreover, the guidelines layout parameters for governors to follow in 3-phases. The schools in states have no chance of a rebound in coronavirus cases and supposedly to open again in the 2nd phase. Some experts believe the US can’t open many businesses for in-person work. Schools and daycare facilities still need to remain closed. The White House has recommended states adhere to a set of standards before even moving into the 3-reopening phases. But, it isn’t recommending any dates or timelines for how long each phase should last. President said governors might be able to reopen their communities very, very quickly, in some cases. Trump also claimed to have heard from several state leaders that they are in good shape.

He said that as many as 29 of the 50 states are in the ballpark of being able to start the reopening process. One of Trump’s top public health advisers, Deborah Birx said a major part of the recommendations is built on additional testing to find individuals who have no symptoms but are carrying the virus. It is noteworthy that there are at least 645,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the United States, with more than 33,000 deaths. Trump said his administration has already won the battle with the coronavirus. Trump addressed governors and said, “You’re going to be calling the shots. We’ll be standing right alongside you, and we’re going to get our country open and get it working”.
