The White House spokesman said US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will not fire his infectious disease expert, Anthony Fauci, in spite of the president retweeting a tweet on Sunday by saying, “Time to #FireFauci”. White House coronavirus task force’s top public health expert, Fauci said in an interview with CNN on Sunday. He said the US could have saved lives with earlier adoption of social distancing measures. Fauci’s comments led to a backlash among conservative leaders who demanded more loyalty from someone who is working directly with the President on the administration’s coronavirus response. White House spokesman, Hogan Gidley said in a statement, “This media chatter is ridiculous. President Trump is not firing Dr. Fauci”.

Gidley added, “Fauci has been and remains a trusted advisor to President Trump”. It is noteworthy that President Trump shared a tweet alongside a message and reacted furiously to the report of the New York Times after a series of complaints regarding, so-called the Lamestream Media. Trump shared a tweet posted by a Republican former California congressional candidate, DeAnna Lorraine. Her tweet says, “Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could’ve saved more lives. Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large. Time to #FireFauci”.

Point to be noted that Trump again pressed the powers of the Office of the President to a potential legal breaking point and declared his authority is total. His recent tweet says, “For the purpose of creating conflict and confusion, some in the Fake News Media are saying that it is the Governors decision to open up the states, not that of the President of the United States & the Federal Government. Let it be fully understood that this is incorrect”. Groups of east and west coast states say they intend to ban together to open up at the same time once conditions allow.
