People are Allowed to Travel with Turkeys, Pigs and Little Horse on an Airplane

News and stories circulated about airline passengers carrying all kinds of unusual animals. A similar news story also published and indicated that a grieving widow was travelling with her turkey to San Francisco. Everyone is familiar with the history of getting help by dogs and with other well trained animals, but the emotional support by different kinds of animals is considered a latest phenomenon. A number of laws are allowing for housing of service animals and emotional support animals for accommodation and providing other essential public facilities. But, some stories also circulated about travelling on an airplane with monkey, pig and little horse.

An incident took place on a USA Airways flight in 2001 that a passenger informed to airline staff about her pig’s weight estimated more than 100 pounds, but it was proved that pig’s weight is close to 300 pounds. So, bulkhead seats were assigned in first class in order to provide extra space for two women (Pig’s owner and her friend). But, they stressed to plant their feet on the bulkhead for entire travelling period of more than six hours. A blind passenger Dan Shaw travelled in the month of May 2003 from Boston to Chicago with his trained little-horse. Shaw selected little horse instead of a dog as a guide animal due to long-life time span compared to a dog. But, we were unable to find any kind of story about providing service by a monkey.
