A meeting was scheduled between Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the White House chief of staff on Monday morning. Reports have indicated that Rosenstein will resign or be fired. The Attorney General Jeff Sessions is 750 miles away in Hoover to deliver a speech to a public safety symposium. Rosenstein is overseeing the Russia investigation after refusal from Sessions.

Jeff Sessions received a standing ovation at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover. He said during the praise, “I may need this. Going back to Washington, you never know”. Sessions was not available to the media. He went out through the back door of one of the conference rooms of the hotel.

Rosenstein in White House meeting

Point to be noted that Rosenstein’s meeting with the White House chief of staff John Kelly finished without finding a perfect solution. The deputy attorney general rejected initial reports that he was going to resign on Monday morning. The White House said that Rosenstein and President Donald Trump are scheduled to discuss his situation on Tuesday.

On Friday, The New York Times reported that Rosenstein had implored Trump cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from the presidency. Rosenstein also suggested wearing a wire to record incriminating information from Trump. But, Rosenstein denied these reports.

It is important that Sessions has had an agitated relationship with Trump. The U.S President has shown his anger on the decision of the attorney general to quit himself from the Russia probe. The U.S president has used social media to complain that Sessions is not using his office to protect him.
