The police officials said that Will Smith the former New Orleans Saints defensive end help the Saints to win the Super Bowl XLIV in the year 2010 and was lethally shot after his involvement in a traffic collapse with a Hummer H2 in the evening at the Lower Garden District, New Orleans on 9^th April 2016 and it was considered the only franchise championship till now. According to the police, the driver of Smith and Hummer exchanged words and then suddenly the driver of Hammer pull-out a handgun and fired multiple rounds on Smith. Police indicated that his wife also injured with two shots and transported to a nearby hospital.

The police report of New Orleans indicated that 28-years old Cardell Hayes has been arrested by the police and charged for shooting & second-degree murder. Police recovered the gun from the place of incident. It was said that 34-years old Smith was drafted by the Saints in the year 2004 and he spent at least nine-years with NFL during 2004-2012 seasons with New Orleans. A member of his family said that they are much thankful regarding support and prayers. But, it was considered a major loss not only for his family but he had a large number of fans. The Mayor of New Orleans Mitch Landrieu said that our thoughts and all prayers are with the family of Will Smith. He added that we should stop such kind of violence and the loss of precious lives.
