The U.S President Donald Trump teased former U.S Senator Al Franken “like a wet rag”, for his quickly resigning over alleged sexual misconduct last year. This extraordinary statement from the U.S President came during the process of a confirmation vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Trump addressed a rally in the home state of Franken, Minnesota. He mentioned that Tina Smith was appointed to take the seat of the senator. He said that Franken wasn’t too strong for stepping down too quickly. Trump said, “Nobody knows who the hell she is”. “She took the place of a wacky guy”.

Trump mocks Al Franken for resigning quickly

Trump added, “He was wacky”. “Boy, did he fold up like a wet rag, huh? Man. Man. He was gone so fast, OK”? “Oh, he did something”. “’Oh, oh, oh, I resign, I quit’”. “I don’t want to mention Al Franken’s name, so I won’t mention”.

These remarks were in keeping long-stated personal mantra of never giving in to any allegation with Trump. But it came at a tense moment when 4 senators, including 2 of the Republican women remain undecided regarding whether to confirm vote for Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S Supreme Court. Kavanaugh has been blamed of sexual misconduct filed from 3 women.

Trump showed his silence regarding allegations on Democrat representative Keith Ellison from his former girlfriend. She alleged that Ellison emotionally and physically abused her. Trump also criticized Ellison for being liberal on immigration and health care. Keith Ellison is the deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He completely denied the allegation and is now running for Minnesota Attorney General.
