U.S President Donald Trump will not be at his upcoming Senate impeachment trial if he follows the example of the 2 U.S presidents who were impeached before the U.S Senate. It is noteworthy that the historic clash between his attorneys and the House Democrats charged with presenting the case against him. There will be a chance for Trump to vicariously face off against House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff. The House Speaker Nancy Pelosi named Adam Schiff as one of the Democratic managers. He will take charge of the case in the Senate. President Trump tweeted in July 2017, when Schiff was working on the intelligence committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election as the panel’s ranking member.

Trump also attacked Schiff in more than 300 tweets and various public statements. He used terms like deranged, corrupt, shifty, and Pencil-neck. Schiff has called the president infantile and alleged him of bringing ill repute to the office of the presidency. Schiff mentioned the reported contents of the phone call between Trump and Zelensky in theatrical terms. He also called it at one point and compared it to a mafia-style shakedown. But, he never claimed that he was speaking the actual words spoken by the U.S President. Trump claimed in response and said Schiff had illegally made up a FAKE & terrible statement, pretended it to be mine as the most important part of my call to the Ukrainian President.

Trump has repeatedly assailed Schiff for making up what Trump has called a Perfect Phone Call. He also suggested the U.S constitution’s speech or debate clause should not provide him immunity for statements made in the course of his official duties. Schiff has remained a constant hate figure for Trump and his supporters by virtue of his status as a leader of the investigation into whether Trump committed impeachable offenses. He is alleged of withholding $391 million in military aid to Ukraine and forced the Ukrainian president to announce investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
