U.S President Donald Trump has issued a furious threat to Iran following an attack on the U.S embassy in Baghdad. The President of the United States had earlier said he held Tehran responsible for Tuesday’s storming of the embassy by Iraqi militia members and their supporters. Iran has rejected of being behind the recent incident. Trump angrily tweeted, “The U.S Embassy in Iraq is, & has been for hours, SAFE! Many of our great War-fighters have the most lethal military equipment in the world, was immediately rushed to the site. Thank you to the President & Prime Minister of Iraq for their rapid response upon request”. He added, “Iran will be held fully responsible for lives lost, or damage incurred, at any of our facilities. They will pay a very BIG PRICE! This is not a Warning, it is a Threat. Happy New Year”!

It is noteworthy that Washington has deployed Apache attack helicopters and increased the U.S Marines to empower the security of the U.S embassy compound. Protesters flooded the area and chanted slogans against the US presence, but fortunately, no American casualties resulted from the incident. They stormed and burnt a security post at the entrance but they were unable to gain access to the main compound of the U.S embassy. The demonstrations took place after the U.S airstrikes on Sunday that killed 25 members of an Iran-backed militia (Kataeb Hezbollah) in Iraq.

Point to be noted that the alleged group is a part of Iraq’s official security forces. Trump administration blamed on Iran, Washington said the bombing was in retaliation for the slaying of an American contractor in a rocket attack that also wounded the U.S and Iraqi troops. Trump tweeted from his Mar a Lago estate in Florida, he said, “Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the embassy, and so notified”!
