New York Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered an impassioned speech by knocking the U.S President Donald Trump about his policies and comments regarding women. But, Cuomo was hit by his own comments as he taunted Trump when he said, “We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great”. The Democratic governor presented criticism from his Republican fellows for the line as he discussed the need for stronger women’s rights during the speech in Manhattan. He also signed a bill in making sex trafficking in New York a crime. Trump said in a tweet that Cuomo was having a “meltdown, while Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro said Cuomo owed the nation an apology.

The Dutchess County executive Molinaro said in a statement that America, with its imperfections, has always been great. Our people, our principles, and our promises have been a beacon light to the world for 242 years and counting. The state GOP called these comments as offensive and called on every Democratic candidate and elected official to condemn remarks of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo immediately. The comment of Cuomo was a part of his larger contention that Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again,” is designed at moving the nation backward, not forward, when it comes to equal rights for all. Cuomo also added that we’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great. We haven’t reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged.
