The app industry is constantly growing with a massive number of downloads and consumer involvement. The growth was recorded in 2021 for both Google Play and iOS stores. Google Play, third-party Android Chinese app stores, and Global spending across iOS increased 19% and reached $170 billion in 2021.

The downloading of apps were rose 5% and reached $230 billion in the same year. However, mobile ad spending continuously increased by 23% and reached $297 billion. Some cases have indicated that consumers are now spending more time on apps than the time they often consume watching TV.

A 2021 report said most Americans were found spending 3 hours watching TV but 4 hours on mobile devices per day. Users outstripped 6 hours daily for mobile apps in some markets such as Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil in 2021.

Apps allow users to pass idle hours but people around the world are now utilizing apps to generate more revenues. Around 232 apps and games produced $100 million in consumer spending, while 12 earned $1 billion in revenues in 2021. It was an increase of 20% when 192 apps and games generated $100, and 8 apps topped $1 billion in 2020.

Apple Business Essentials for smaller businesses

Apple has announced to start allowing a batch of applications sold on its App Store to connect to an external website. It would enable users to create of managing their entire accounts using the app developer. The recent change is only applicable to reader apps. These apps were actually designed to provide access to digital content such as e-books, e-magazines, audio, and video.

The tech giant has launched Apple Business Essentials aimed at helping smaller businesses to manage devices without having essential IT expertise. Apple has now released iOS 15.4.1, macOS 12.3.1, and iPadOS 15.4.1. All these versions include a fix for battery problems on iPad, iPhone, and 2 zero-days.

New Payment System from Apple

The company reportedly confirmed building its own payments systems to decrease relying on partners. Bloomberg also reported that the project is entitled ‘Breakout’ in-house. The news outlet indicated the company’s interest in enhancing fintech behind Apple Pay and Apple Card.

Moreover, it also includes processing transactions across iTunes and the App Store. The senior VP of Software Engineering for Apple, Craig Federighi also said about a delay in providing iOS software updates. He was responding to a user’s email asking about automatic iOS updates.

Federighi surprisingly answered and explained that the company gradually releases new iOS updates. However, Apple first makes them available for people and they can find them in Settings. The company starts releasing devices with auto-update enables after receiving feedback on the update.

New Billing Payments Policy of Google

Multiple authentic sources have confirmed that Google Play has started a new billion payments policy on 1st April 2022. However, the company announced in 2020 that developers need to come into agreement with the policy. The new policy requires digital goods and services selling apps to use the billing payment system of Google Play.

They will not be allowed to submit app updates until they are in agreement and have extension approval from developers. It would prevent them from barring any type of critical security problems. It is important that the search giant confirmed that Google Play will terminate non-compliance apps on June 1, 2022. The announcement clearly indicated that Google is focusing on its Air Tag detection features.
